Vijay is a qualified Professional Coach and Mentor.
She is the Former Head of Multi Awarding Winning BBC Asian Network, a National Digital Radio Station. Pioneered the development of a National Digital Radio Station from its local BBC Radio Leicester roots. Extensive Board level experience of Non-Executive Directorships and Trustee roles in Health, Higher Education, Probation, Government, National & Local Charity’s, Arts and Culture.
Currently she is a Non- Executive Director on East Midlands Ambulance NHS Trust, Council Member, University of Leicester, Board Member of Rutland and Leicestershire Community Foundation, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust Children’s Hospital Appeal Board Member, Trustee Rainbows Children’s Hospice, and Steering Group Member of Women in Philanthropy.
Previously she was a Non -Executive Director of East Midlands & Midlands & East Strategic Health Authority, Leicestershire and Rutland Probation Trust, Board Member of Government Office West Midlands, Board Member Caxton Foundation, Trustee of Gingerbread and Leicester Theatre Trust – Haymarket & Curve Theatre.
Vijay has worked for Local Government as Social Worker in Nottinghamshire and Race Relations Advisor to the Chief Executive of Leicestershire County Council before joining the BBC . She has extensive experience of working with and supporting women and young girls groups and women victims of domestic violence.
