Naila Iqbal has been a member of the Leading Ladies Steering Committee since July 2018.
Naila was born and bred in Leicester and has always been involved within the local community supporting local charities, events and businesses. She has a degree and post-graduate diploma in law and legal practice and qualified as a solicitor in 2004.
Initially Naila practiced matrimonial law, property and immigration matters with a local private practice. Having become an experienced advocate however, she joined the Crown Prosecution Service in 2006 where she is now employed as a Senior Crown Prosecutor in the West Midlands. Naila regularly appears in court as an advocate having become a youth court specialist and she has further specialised in the conduct of cases involving domestic abuse. A particular strength is high risk cases where there are vulnerable victims and witnesses.
Naila conducts pro bono work in the community including assisting lay people with legal form-filling, drafting legal points where members of the public are representing themselves, and signposting to other lawyers or services where required.
Naila’s passion is travelling the world and supporting local sporting events including football, cricket and basketball. She is an avid supporter of Leicester City Football Club and the Leicester Riders.
